HEALTH DEPARTMENT MATERIALS

As a media specialist, I began working for the Richmond City and Henrico County Health Districts in March 2020, two weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic became urgent in the U.S. In April 2021, I accepted a public relations and marketing specialist promotion for both districts. My role in both positions has involved similar professional focuses.

KEY EXPERTISE: Creative and strategic design direction, conceptual design, illustrator, social media design, management, and strategic promotion.

THE JOB

I ensure that accurate, credible, actionable, and timely public health communications that inform decision-making by citizens, communities, and other stakeholders are shared. I plan and develop informational and educational materials for the vaccination and health district containment units using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. I manage all Richmond City and Henrico County Health District social media accounts. Additionally, I collaborate with my communication team members to design and create materials that educate and raise awareness of COVID-19, related health crises, and vital health policies.

A Glimpse - Department Materials & Programs

The Richmond City and Henrico County health districts offer thirteen programs and various clinical services. I have created social media guides, annual department reports, over three thousand social media posts across five department media platforms, hundreds of flyers, pamphlets, posters, toolkits, program logos, three campaigns, stickers, pins, and videos.

COVID-19

The design direction for COVID-19 materials has evolved naturally over time. Designs were adapted over time, allowing our residents to identify each pandemic phase visually.

#STAYHOMERVA Celebrity Involvement

The #StayHomeRVA campaign was created to inform Richmond City and Henrico County residents about the rapidly spreading COVID-19 virus and empower them to keep themselves and their loved ones safe from viral infection. I secured media coverage of Richmond native celebrities and influential local figures for a video series. The series encouraged residents to follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and state guidelines to stay-at-home and social distance.

I created the videos with the content I received from each ambassador. The list of participating celebrities includes Chad L. Coleman and Michael Freeman (Actors on the TV series “The Walking Dead”), Scottie Thompson (Actress from the TV show “NCIS”), David Baldacci (American novelist), Mike Rhodes (Head Basketball Coach at Virginia Commonwealth University), Michelle Livigne (Contestant on “Ru Paul’s Drag Race” and local personality, State Senator Dr. Siobhan S. Dunnavant, Karla Redditte (NBC12), and James Millner (President of VA Pride). The featured celebrities in this section are Chad L. Coleman, Scottie Thompson, and Michelle Livinge.
